The Neighborhood Shows Up!

Thanks to all who attended Holiday Haze: Twilight Dinner #8, our inaugural communal meal presented in our store. It was amazing to finally have the first sit down event in the space last week on Dec 9th. I decorated the dining room in a festive holiday theme, added a turntable and record collection that guests selected music from and served a five-course meal with pairings, and although it was probably a bit too much food, everyone had a great time.

Highlights included a cassoulet of duck confit, pork belly and garlic sausage, and a course of seared Wester Ross salmon with parsnip puree and gremolata. See the accompanying photos of some of the plated dishes and the full menu which will give you a sense of the structure and presentation of a typical 5-course Twilight Dinner.

Interested in sharing a meal with us? I have more Twilight Dinners in our programming (with plans to have 1 pop-up dinner a month at the space). RSVP for our NEW YEAR’S EVE TWILIGHT DINNER or consider signing up for my delivered meals. I’ve started weekly meal deliveries to select neighborhoods in the city and have been amazed at the feedback so far. The meal kits usually include two full meals for 2-4 people with additional breads, cookies, soups and other extras as well. Please reach out if you are interested in getting on my DELIVERED MEALS PROGRAM client list, and we can discuss whether there are open delivery slots in your area.

Our mission at Twilight Kitchen is to use our love of food as a springboard for specialized events and offerings that add enjoyment and build community in Rogers Park. We love being a new active neighbor on Clark street and have had many local residents stopping by to shop our market and sign up for our twilight dinners and cooking classes. I can’t wait to see you at our next dinner; please come enjoy one of these special evenings.

I also hosted a bread making class last night (Dec 16), and it was a blast to have new neighbors and old friends shaping loaves of sourdough, eating soup and enjoying themselves in our kitchen. Thanks to all who attended. Private classes can be arranged as well if you are interested in a class or quick tutorial on breads, soups, or any other food preps.

My cooking classes are structured as 2-hour workshops offered on Thursday evenings, usually once a month from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Class size is purposely limited to 8 people and all levels of experience are welcome. No prior experience or professional equipment is necessary; our goal is to enable you to cook and prepare these foods in your home kitchen. Join us for the next COOKING CLASS: SAVVY SEAFOOD on January 13th.
